Long-distance move from Londonderry, NH to Valrico, FL

DO NOT USE THEM!!

These people are cons. we dealt specifically with Eric Kramer, and he is a snake. promised us everything we wanted. told us not to worry about the contract guidelines because we were "all set." Couple days before our move CROSS COUNTRY, we get a call (not from Eric, because he is on "vacation." Saying that everything we had wanted, will not happen. and if you bring up this review site, he will say its just people complaining, no one ever write a good review, etc. When my husband was getting nervous about the reviews he was reading, he tried calling Eric only to have it be impossible to get a hold of him. But when we were "potential customers" he was available 24/7. THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY DONT HAVE A FACEBOOK. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

My things came from Integrated Movers in NJ.
I was never told they contract out for the trucks the drivers had a mess in the truck. Things were thrown and piles all over the place. Tried to get my things. Can the owner email contact info to reach him please, can not contact Zeak Price and Ryan. They said I need to call the moving company?
They were my company that contracted my move to drivers in NJ.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to New Mexico

Happy Customer.

I just had to move my mother from North Carolina to New Mexico. She lived in an area that was hard to access, so getting the truck to her house was an issue for many of the moving companies I vetted. Then trying to cipher through the reviews trying to figure out which company was the best, or which company made themselves look like the best. After speaking with multiple different people, I chose to go with Empire Moving Company. I spoke with Robby who really eased my mind and made the process les stressful for me. He assured he would be there every step of the way and he was. My mother’s belongings were transported to New Mexico safely. I did have a problem with the pick up time, they were supposed to come in between 10am-2pm and they did not get there until around four, but they did communicate that with me. (Or this would have been a much different review) Overall I would recommend Empire moving to anyone, I trusted them to move my mother!

Long-distance move from Baker, WV to Prospect, CT

Move it yourself - it will be easier.

If you want a moving company who is not responsive, manipulative, uses shady tactics to get you to buy into their services, this is your company. Note: These are movers my parents hired and I got involved with handling the case once their belongings were picked up. This complaint is on behalf of them as well as what I personally experienced when starting to deal with them directly. Empire Moving Group hired on 10/14 to pick up belongings from WV. Delivery date was scheduled for 10/15 or 10/16 with the movers confirming the day of. Deposit was made and estimate was given. The movers didn't show up until 10/17 at 12pm. Movers arrived (which was actually Safeguard Van Lines, contracted out from Empire) and packed up my parents belongings (1 King Sized Platform Bed, 3 end tables, 2 night stands, a small dining room table, 4 chairs, 1 toddler sized bed (no mattress), coat rack, 17 small boxes, 9 med boxes, 4 lg boxes, 1 lg cabinet and a never been opened boxed up closet organizer), they were told that the space being taken up in the truck was more than double what the estimate had called for (353 cu ft estimate, saying they needed an additional 450 cu ft) and instead of owing the movers $640, they owed them $1643. Not knowing what to do, they paid the movers because they were put in a position where they couldn't do anything else at that time.Enter me. I had several conversations with customer service at Empire and was told that Empire was simply a middle man and that Safeguard was the actual moving company that Empire had sourced the job to and that between the two of them, Empire provides the estimate and sometimes, it's a little off. I worked with Empire to go through the estimate and they worked with Safeguard to see what was taken up for space. Upon the reevaluation they determined it was indeed less space, and they should have charged us $1454.29 and therefore instead of owing them another $1643 at drop off, we'd only owe $1454.29. This still did NOT make sense to me as the cu ft amount they claimed my parents items were taking up was still 803 cu ft. I was promised pictures of the truck once loaded to confirm the amount of space being taken up and a follow-up conversation to take place with the customer service agent that I was speaking to at Empire, but it never happened. Speaking of customer service: I was told several times that "my parents would be taken care of and their interest was at top of mind when it came to the level of service being given". Once a few conversations had taken place between me and Brittany (10/14 and 10/15), I never heard from her again. Even when I called and left a message for her on 10/18 at 11am, she never returned my call to get the above picture situation ironed out. However, on 10/18 at around 4pm I received a phone call from Ryan from Empire to confirm the delivery date of 10/20. I said that would be fine, but I really wanted to talk with Brittany to get the rest ironed out because I did not feel comfortable paying $1454.29 to the movers upon delivery. I asked to speak with Brittany - she had conveniently already gone home for the day. I was told I'd receive a phone call from Safeguard on Saturday to confirm delivery time and that was that. No phone call on Saturday from Safeguard. On Sunday morning I received a call from the foreman that my parents things would be delivered around 9:45am. We went to the new house to meet them there. I explained to him the situation about the pictures not being sent and so on and so forth, knowing that sadly he was simply the middle man. He put me in touch with Vanessa at Safeguard where I was told if my parents wanted their stuff, we would need to pay them upfront the $1454.29 or else we wouldn’t get any of our stuff. They hold your items for ransom so they can get paid and they never talk to you again. I sent an email to Empire outlining the issues and requested they talk to me to iron this out. No response has been received since.

Official company response

Empire Moving Group is disheartened that Ms. Teter is upset with her moving experience. Ms. Teter booked moving services on 10/7/19. Empire Moving Group, like most moving companies, does not guarantee delivery dates only delivery windows. Unless a premium guarantee delivery service is ordered by the customer for a one-day delivery as stated in the signed agreement. If a premium guarantee delivery service is not ordered, then we give the customer a delivery window based on their first available delivery date and the mileage of the move. In this case, it was our understanding Ms. Teter was not able to accept delivery before October 16th, 2019 as she stated on her paperwork. This means October 16th, 2019 was the first day of Ms. Teter's delivery window. Ms. Teter items were delivered a few days later, on Monday, October 21th, 2019 in the afternoon. I have copied a portion of the contract below stating how delivery estimates work.
2) By signing this Binding Estimate for Services, customer is acknowledging and agreeing to the following:

As properly licensed interstate broker, Empire Moving Group, LLC, is not a motor carrier and will not transport or handle in any way an individual shipper's household goods, but will coordinate and arrange for the transportation of household goods by an FMCSA authorized motor carrier, whose charges will be determined by its own published tariff. All estimated charges and final actual charges will be based upon the motor carrier's tariff which is available for inspection from the carrier upon reasonable request. In acting as an interstate broker, Empire Moving Group, LLC is not responsible for any acts or omissions of the moving company or its employees or agents. Empire Moving Group, LLC is the customer's representative. There is no agency or subcontractor relationship between Empire Moving Group, LLC and the moving company. Empire Moving Group, LLC will research and recommend a moving company; however, it is customer's sole decision to enter into a contract for moving services (Bill of Lading) with the moving company or not. This document is an estimate only and not a contract for moving services. Empire Moving Group, LLC is not a party to the contract for moving services (bill of lading) between the moving company and the customer. Customer agrees to exclusively pursue the moving company directly for all claims for overcharges, delayed delivery, breach of contract, property damage, including without limitation, any claims of damage to property, lost or stolen goods, delayed pickup or delivery, actions of estimators, drivers, packers, or movers, or other types of claims. As the customer, I agree that any refusal or denial of service, either verbally in person or over the phone, will be treated as a late cancellation made outside of the cancellation window. I understand that no refund will be issued if I refuse or deny service on the day of pick up. If I claim that service was not rendered I must provide notice of any service failure made by Empire Moving Group LLC, in writing to info@empiremovinggroup.com Empire Moving Group LLC, will not be required at any time to provide proof of service denial, this will be the customer’s responsibility. As the customer, I agree to the applicable terms and conditions relating to pick up and delivery dates as detailed above. I agree that Empire Moving Group LLC, does not have the ability to obtain signed documentation verifying a service refusal. As the customer, I agree that Empire Moving Group LLC, will not be required to provide proof of service in the case of a service denial or refusal of service. Empire Moving Group LLC, reserves the right to retain the deposit of the customer who verbally refuses or denies service without written documentation.

3) I am troubled to hear a staff member at Empire Moving Group would state that we are simply the middleman. Safeguard Van Lines, the carrier assigned to the Ms. Teter’s move. However, the Empire Moving group has a very strong working relationship with Safeguard Van Lines, at any time we would be able to provide a customer with the information regarding a move with Safeguard Van Lines.

Empire Moving Group estimate is based on information the customer provides us upon booking. We do understand it can be difficult for a customer to provide us with an accurate inventory list and/or dimensions and weights of items. This is the reason we have a Quality Assurance department to review the inventory list with the customer a few days prior to pick-up. However, we were denied this opportunity because the Teter family booked their move less than 24 hours before they needed to be moved. Unfortunately, we noticed when a customer books a move so last minute the inventory, space or weight reservation can be inaccurate. In this case, the Teter’s were able to provide us with an accurate inventory list but not an accurate size for each item. Resulting in the Teter family needing a much larger space reservation in the truck then was originally reserved.

4 & 5) Empire Moving Group like all moving companies nationwide can not unload the truck at delivery without payment prior to opening the truck. This is not a secret we disclose this upon booking your move with Empire Moving Group and this information is found in the signed agreement.

TERMS OF PAYMENTS: Upon booking a deposit is required to be paid in the form of ACH electronic check. At the time of pickup, 50% of the balance is due in the form of cash, postal money or a certified check from your banking institution. Should you require a different payment method, you must contact customer service directly (407-993-6535) no later than 7 days prior to your first date of your pickup window. At delivery, the balance is due prior to unloading, in the form of post office money order or cash only. The carrier reserves the right to collect up to 70% of balance due prior to the goods leaving the origin state. Subject to federal law, payment in FULL of all charges is required before delivery and prior to unloading. Subject to the 110% law, if applicable. All charges are based on the carrier's full tariff rates. If payment is not made, then the carrier may place the goods in storage until payment is made; in such case, the customer will be responsible for all storage and redelivery fees.

Worst Service and stuff delivery in midnight along with missing goods.

If you really want to see the true service of this company read it till end or ignore this and just go with other 5* ratings like I did and regret later like I am regretting now.

One star is too much for this company. Pick up scheduled for 3 pm on October 4th actual pickup happened at 7 pm so you just have to keep waiting and this is just starting.
I took this company service for long distance (2000 miles) move, pick up was delayed I didn’t raise any question. They picked my stuff on 4th October as per their policy they will take 20 days from your the first delivery date and this they won’t tell you when asking for money , they will tell when you follow up on your stuff.

My stuffs delivered scheduled for 27th October between 6 pm -8pm .I called the driver at 8 PM he said running late will be around 9 PM after that no response to calls and text and after 10PM got a text from driver to reach in 30 min as it is late I asked to deliver tomorrow and in response a rude answer I got that I need to pay the storage fees and finally all the stuff delivered by 1 PM ( is the midnight right time to deliver? ) when I asked to come tomorrow in daytime for delivery, driver asked that I need to pay the storage fees. For last 20 days I was expecting my stuff to be delivered sooner they keep ignoring about the query because it is the policy of 20 -30 days, now for a night they need storage fees. Driver charged me 200$ extra for long carry. Delivering in midnight plus additional charges.

I accepted deliver in midnight and now comes the exciting part. My 65 inch tv has been damaged and I paid 55$ extra for the tv packing and tv base screws are missing so now it can’t even stand , My tv stand 75 inch is missing, my sofa cushions and 1 light is missing and coffee table glass screws are missing

And the driver was so rude when I asked for missing stuff he said ask company and they made so much noise that I got complaint from neighbors in the morning

And now another 1000 of follow up I need to do to get my missing stuff or money which both looks impossible because I spoke to customer service today and they just said send us email and talk over.
No apologies for midnight delivery no listening about what stuffs are missing.

Long-distance move from Fairfax, VA to Atlanta, GA

Worst Moving Experience.. EVER!!

We were given all lies about how professional Empire Moving Group is until we experienced it ourselves.. the lack thereof! Here's how..

Mr. Zeke (the sales guy) kept calling us every single day until we confirmed the move with them and paid the booking amount. Afterwards when we had questions / concerns, there was no sense of ownership from the guys who answered the helpline number. It kept going down the spiral from this point on.

We were not clearly explained how this would work - if I were clearly told that we won't actually have a choice on the date / time of move, I would never have signed up with them. They took 2 dates from us and said only 24 hours in advance will we find out when the drivers will actually arrive. Can you imagine how ridiculous and anxiety provoking it is to not know until 24 hours in advance about exactly what time your truck with movers will get there? I did not know that.. If if did, I would not have gone ahead with these guys! But, what choice did I have? We were moving cities (Northern VA to Atlanta Metro Area) and no one understood that we had to make arrangements to clean the old place after the move, give away keys, and have other things planned / lined up after - for which one needs to know the exact plan, not wait for them to determine our plan?! I wish I knew this before.. I would never have signed up for such uncertainty!

On the moving day, the movers actually arrived 2 hours later than we were told. (And they acted as if it was all the traffic's fault)!

We were told by Mr Zeke that our delivery will be confirmed for any day that we would want. That was horseshit.. We had to frantically call their warehouse helpline every freaking day which was useless because they kept us hanging for 2 weeks before our stuff finally arrived. Can you believe that? TWO WEEKS!! We were NOT even vaguely aware of what hell was in store for us, from the time the truck was loaded and the drivers were on their way! I was shocked at what a blunder I had committed. Zeke told us it could sometimes, in extreme circumstances, take up to 10 days for our stuff to arrive at its destination, but that was never the case..Our stuff took 15 days - which crosses that threshold too. We had to stay in hotels, then on sleeping bags in our new apartment (when we had overspent all our relocation budget), and finally make other temporary arrangements after few days of sleeping bags as our beds as other stuff did not arrive for 2 weeks! I developed a back-problem sleeping on the floor / sleeping bags for several days. Who is responsible for that?

Their helpline number / warehouse number is good for nothing! They never answer and mailbox is always full. We had to live in the anxiety that our stuff was lost and we may never get it at all. How is this justified? Ms Brittany and Mr Ryan (helpdesk staff) were never able to confirm anything and never ever returned our calls. We were invariably put on hold for 15-20 minutes, again as if it didn't matter.
Thankfully we engaged with them only for moving (and not packing). Things we packed on our own arrived well but the furniture that they packed was badly scratched and damaged. For a small mirror cabinet (that was inexpensive), they asked us to put a $100 packing / protection, which was not worth it. I declined and as you may expect, it was badly cracked when we saw it upon arrival. The driver nonchalantly said to that, I had told you so.. Our beds were scratched up all over, mattresses damaged, a chest of drawer broken and no sense of acknowledgment or apology for damaging our furniture which we had maintained in pristine condition.

When loading, we saw how poorly they simply stacked up everything to make more room in the truck so they could add more things in a single move.

Now, when I try to look for help on claims for the damage, again there is no one I can call as the mailbox is full. Should I even be surprised?!

Worst of all, when we were signing up we were never told it would not be a single truck for our consignment. For a similar price, we were getting other vendors who would bring only our stuff in their truck and load / unload exactly when we wanted. All per our wish! I wish I knew these terrible facts before, so I wouldn't have gotten trapped in their world of lies and deceit! I regret signing up for Empire Moving Group and will never recommend them to anyone.

They are brokers who outsource things to cheap vendors and take absolutely no ownership from the time agreements are signed / first set of payment is made.

Based on this experience, I ask you to seriously reconsider all things I mentioned above before signing up with them.

Long-distance move from Brooklyn, NY to Minneapolis, MN

Inflated pricing, lost and damaged items, damaged home.

During COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to do a full service move as we could not return home due to travel and health restrictions. We were quoted a price of $571 for packing. We were forced to pay an additional $8,258 for packing and binding once the movers were in our home. We had no other options given pandemic restrictions. When items arrived they were damaged. Boxes containing numerous items never arrived. The moving company left our credit card out in the street-a kind neighbor who found it was nice enough to inform me the next day. They did not reassemble furniture as promised. Most of furniture was scratched. We lost our security deposit because of damage to walls in home and trash left out front by movers. Given cost of move with inflated packing prices and need to rebuy many items this move cost us over 16 thousand dollars. If I could do it all again it would have been less stressful to be infected with COVID-19 and move it all myself, then work with Empire and the movers they hired. If it is not obvious from above, do not use this company. Any other company has to be better.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

PLEASE READ MY POST , do not TRUST THESE PEOPLE

Please Review my pictures, I have more to share but google won’t let me upload more, Empire group are brokers and hand your job over to small start up moving companies and several in some cases to move your things.

My move was handled by 2 sets of movers.

THEY RUINED MORE THAN 50% of my house item, I will list everyone’s name I worked with: CODY ROBBINS WAS THE BROKER, he eventually blocked my emails after I was trying to reach out to him for support.

They handed my move to a NJ based company CR7 who picked up my things from NY, stored it in NJ

Who then handed it over to a single owner company who rented a truck from penske to bring my stuff to my new location. (Found this out when the truck shows up)

2 kids who couldn’t lift anything was the staff.

My husband and I had to maneuver the move of items in.

I paid for closet boxes and a full pack of dishes for $ 1200 and they rammed all my suits and good clothing like garbage.

More than half my kitchen items were broken

They didn’t have boxes and used my plastic containers.

Some cases glasses were wrapped 2 at a time.

All my white furniture was just wrapped with plastic and no moving blanket.

All the corners of every time is scraped, digged and damaged.

Cody Robbins promised he would be with me from day 1 of the move to the last day to ensure all was okay

Once they got their deposit they disappeared.

I took one week to figure out what the claim process is

CR 7 said they will file the claim and this was untrue

I sat for 4 hours loading pics and details and receipts into a portal

Now it will take up to 120 days for my claim to process

All while I’m left with all the damaged items sitting around my house

And a loss of over $20k.

Long-distance move from Florida to California

Horrible service/ DO NOT BOOK!!!!! BEWARE!!!!

On Thursday, December 16th, about 10am I was contacted by Ryan from Empire Moving for an

estimate on my upcoming move to San Diego. I alerted Ryan that I didn’t have an address yet

and the move was TBD. I put down a deposit of $1254.57 and was told by Ryan to give us a call

if you want to cancel or make adjustments in 72 hours. Ryan told me to then store the

company’s number in my phone as “EMPIRE CSR”

On Saturday, December 18th I received my address -(Baja California) and called the company

to see if they could deliver to Mexico and if not cancel. A woman answered the phone and said

they were closed until Monday and said I needed to call Monday morning at 9am.

On Monday, December 20th I called Ryan at Empire Movers and asked him about the move to

Mexico and if the company would accommodate me, he said “No”. I then told Ryan I will need to

cancel my order with the company, he then told me its past the 72 hour policy. I told him I called

the company on Saturday to cancel and a woman answered the phone and said they were

closed. I then asked Ryan how a customer is supposed to cancel when you're closed on the

weekend and could I speak with a manager. Ryan then put a guy named Shane on the phone

who said he was the manager. I explained to Shane the issue and he said they would not give

me a refund just a credit. I explained to Shane I called to cancel on Saturday but your employee

told me you were closed. Shane said we are open on the weekends and i told him that an

employee told me differently when I called on Saturday. He said you could have sent an email

(which I immediately did after this conversation). I explained to him that I tried to cancel on

Saturday. Shane then told me my deposit would now be a $1254.57 credit with their company.

I then asked Shane who the owner of the company was and refused to disclose that

information.

On Wednesday, December 22nd, I reached out to Empire moving company to use my credit

and was transferred multiple times. When I finally got someone I was met with hostility and

attitude. I told the woman on the phone I was just trying to use my credit to hire movers to put a

few items in storage. When she asked for the address she was very snarky and defensive when

I asked if Ryan had already given her the address - she said “Tenessa multiple times and began

to talk over me as I was given her the info - saying “I know your frustrated and kept trying to say

I was disgruntled. I told the employee I was having a great day and please don't try to make me

out as an angry customer. I asked the woman her name but she refused to give it to me..

(remind you this is the same woman who answered the phone on Saturday saying they were

closed.) I then asked for a Supervisor and some lady named Brittany got on the phone

disgruntled claiming she was the supervisor saying my name over and over and would not let

me get a word in.. before she hung up she said Tenessa stop harassing us.

Now remind you I’m the customer who they just stole $1254.57 and I’m trying to work with them

to get a refund or at least use the credit.

I also had a friend call the company to see about my credit and she also keeps getting the

runaround. This company refuses to render service or give my money back.

After doing some research I found out this company steals money from customers frequently

using the 72 hour policy as a scapegoat even if you can't reach anyone by phone to cancel.

I filed a BBC complaint on this company.

Worse Experience Ever!

Let me start by saying that my Empire Rep Ryan was great however my interaction with Ryan was short because they out sourced my move with Dynamic Dynasty Moving LLC which was a nightmare from the start. They didnt pick up when scheduled, they did not communicate the delivery date so I continued to chase them and then they showed up to deliver 3 weeks later without a call or heads up so I had to leave early from training at a new job. In addition to this chaos they DAMAGED my brand new $2000 dinning room table, a $300 book shelf amongst other items. When I contacted Empire they washed their hands of me and said to file a claim through Dynamic Dynasty which I did not hire to begin with! Will definitely spread the word through out all the hospitals I am associated with so that no one else goes through this awful stress. You can see my beautiful table in the picture attached and then the damage from what looks like it may have been kicked. The bubble wrap and shrink wrap securing my table and other furniture was all ripped from my furniture being slid around.

Long-distance move from Allentown, PA to Charleston, SC

DO NOT USE!!! BUYER BEWARE

I booked Empire Moving Group for a move from Allentown Pennsylvania to Charleston South Carolina.

I reviewed my inventory several times with Kyle Clark. Kyle also assured me that my belongings would be placed on the truck and received within 7 to 10 days.

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, a 29 foot truck appeared at our home. The three movers barely spoke English, the one dropped my dining room table flat on the ground, the other slammed my couch into the back of the truck, not to mention one of them using my bathroom and leaving an atrocious smell behind.

They were supposed to pad all furniture. I came in to find that my grandfather’s 80 year old foot locker from World War II was taped without blanketing. I asked them to please immediately remove the tape and pad it in fear that his name would be removed from the foot locker.

After about two hours, The lead told me that Kyle misquoted and we had way too much stuff. My original quote of $4600 was now $9600! During the quoting process I advised that I had a very large sectional and they told me they couldn’t fit the pillows so they charged me $50 per box and a $600 oversized item fee.

We paid an extra bulk item fee for a motorcycle and o he transported. They put the motorcycle on the truck and began piling things on top of it. We told them immediately that was not permitted and we paid to have that item delicately handled.

Then they told us they couldn’t fit the rest of our belongings in the truck. Naturally, we were very upset and called customer service. I am guilty of cursing because I was very upset but the customer service manager, Sarah, was very rude and snarky. My boyfriend tried to interject in the conversation and she told him to stop speaking. She said she was trying to have a conversation with me. He replied that he lived there and was paying for half the move and her response was I already told you enough comments from the peanut gallery. Seriously???!!! I then informed her that they told us they couldn’t get all of our belongings on the truck and they wouldn’t be able to come back for a week. She told me she could have somebody there the next day but we would incur more charges. I told her I had already paid for a hotel halfway between Allentown and Charleston and asked who is going to reimburse me for that. Her reply to that was I should’ve known better than to expect the move to go that smoothly. After 6 1/2 hours they finally left. Between the moving all of the stress, we weren’t able to make it to the hotel I already paid for. Unfortunately, Marriott wouldn’t transfer my reservation so it cost us an additional $260 to stay somewhere else. I ended up hanging up on the CS Manager.

The movers then began unloading the truck to re-organize it. At this point they were already there over five hours. They ended up getting the majority of the stuff on the truck but we did have to throw away a lot of our belongings. They ended up putting my futon and box spring on the back of the truck. And then they proceeded to charge me $350 extra for that even though my belongings weren’t even inside a vehicle.

The lead mover then told me he would give us a discount if I gave each of the guys a $100 tip but I couldn’t tell anybody!?!?!

The following Friday I received a phone call that my belongings would be there Saturday morning. Later that day I got a phone call that our belongings with now be delivered on Sunday. At 7:59 AM on Saturday morning, I got a phone call from the driver that he was a half hour away.

I chose Empire Moving because They were highly rated on the consumer affairs website. However, after unpacking, I found that my furniture was damaged and several irreplaceable items were broken.

Do not use them! We are out an extra $5000 and I am heartbroken at the damages incurred. My mother passed away in 2016 and I have her beautiful rolltop desk. It is completely cracked. I have champagne glasses that were 30 years old and all of them were broken. Every single box that said fragile was crushed. My serving dishes are completely destroyed, a $60 pizza stone along with them, a 50 year old beer-steinwasbroken, a Queen Anne end table cracked. Every time I open the box marked fragile, I cried because I was afraid to see what they did to my belongings.

STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Disgusting, soulless company. If you’re not in the market to be deceived, insulted, and screamed at, turn back now. Notice how many of their positive reviews are vague and posted at the same time? Empire will make your move a LIVING NIGHTMARE.

Empire couldn’t be nicer when they’re luring you in for money. That’s the first and last time you’ll receive any customer service. Afterwards, Empire sells your move to a shady carrier that has up to 30 business days to get you your belongings. Mine showed up on the 30th business day in crushed, open boxes. Empire will not move your belongings. They’re a broker. They don’t tell you that when you’re negotiating, but they’re more than happy to tell you they are when it’s been weeks and their default reply is “contact your carrier” (this is after they told me I was “annoying” for checking on the status of my belongings). The employee that arranged my move gave me his “personal number”, but whenever I tried to call it after making a deposit, it forwarded to an answering service.

The carrier only replied to texts once every few weeks. They also charged me $300 more than Empire, showed up in an unmarked truck, texted expletives, screamed during pickup, and screamed over the phone that “it was going to hurt me” if I asked for my belongings. This carrier ultimately didn’t deliver my belongings, thankfully, as I was scared for my safety due to their hostility.

I would have rather walked the 1,000 miles of my move on the side of the road in the blistering heat with my belongings than have ever done business with this pathetic excuse for a company. They’re repulsive. It’s a shame they’re allowed to even operate.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Florida

Scammers.

Gave one estimate. Called back and then charged 2000 more for the same stuff then showed up two hours late and wouldn’t even move the original quoted items unless we agreed to 1500 more and we had 20 less boxes then we told them. What an absolute scam. I asked what was too big and he shows me a recliner that’s actually on the small side. I told the mover he was a criminal and he left. Now we’re stuck. SCAMMERS. DONT CALL THEM. STEALING MY 76 year old mothers money.

Long-distance move from Cape Coral, FL to Virginia Beach, VA

Horrendous Interstate Move - Florida to Virginia

Our move has been an endless nightmare that is still ongoing. On the day of our move, the pick-up mover, sub-broker Back UP Movers, informed us the original quote was no way close to the amount of truck space required (396 sq ft) and increased it to 600 sq feet ($900) - an increase of one- third and David refused to start the move until he was paid in cash and our estimator, Chance Johnson, not being willing to help or answer his phone after the first attempt. Our options were to pay him or pay one month short term rental to the apartment at $2800 per month. We paid Bend Over Movers the money and they loaded our furniture, ensuring us the actual cash .value insurance was not needed as we were covered for $10K incidental damage.

When our furniture and belongings were delivered, our bedframe headboard was broken due to not being disassembled, end table dented and cracked in three places, 6 of our stacking crates broken, and our new white leather recliner had black glue all over it from the movers not using a blanket under the wrapping tape. All of these damages documented by us and the mover.

We filed a claim through Unlimited Moving and Storage (contracted by Empire Moving) and their Insurance Company CSI which was a painstaking do it yourself process. The $119 in damages offered fell way short of our estimated claim as CSI informed us the weight of the broken bedframe and end table was not documented or verifiable and the pay out offered at $0.60 per pound of weight. We are currently still sleeping with the box spring and mattress on the floor and the bedframe broken with the replacement cost for a headboard at $599 with unknown shipping charges from Florida to Virginia.

All of this on top of us having a hitch installed on our SUV and renting a U-Haul trailer to take our more fragile items on our first trip from Fl to Va. This been a true nightmare and I've never heard of a more dis-honest company start to finish in my life. Don't take a "Chance" on Empire Moving.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Mobile, AL

Beware

Confused by the high marks for this company/broker. Listen to people who say they were given one price by Empire and it doubled once the actual movers arrived. Hiding behind the definition of an estimate. It should not vary so wildly from the initial quote. Zero regard for you once they have your deposit and dispatch sketchy moving companies to handle your valuables. They do not honor pick up windows or value your time. I will write a review any and everywhere about my experience. They will try to bully you on the Better Business Bureau and pretend they are the victims. They have my money while acting condescending when connecting me to a moving company operating out of an enterprise moving van (Luxury Logistics) with a duck taped sign. I could have been dealing with anyone, they had no paperwork to show or provide to me. Original quote $3258 minus $1156 deposit leaving $2102. Told them of all the items I had and even overestimated the number of boxes. Movers showed up and said it would be $4389 (handwritten) not counting the deposit already paid. Then went down to $3500 verbally which was not fully explained. Could not entertain either increase. They count on your cancellation to pocket the money and act treat you like you did something to them.

All around great experience.

I am thrilled to have found empire, I contracted with another moving company who bailed on me the day of pick-up which is something empire said would happen. They were able to get me picked up the very next day for a great price. It was slightly delayed on delivery but that can be expected when going across the country.

Long-distance move from Virginia to Arizona

Empire Moving Group.

We hired Empire to move us across the country. Since they are brokers and don't actually do the move ( they hire and send movers to you) they sent "Pack Rite Movers" from NJ to do our move. Empire doesn't tell you they are brokers and it doesn't state on their website that they are brokers . Apparently it's in the small writing on the contract.. so beware of this. When you talk to them, they give you the impression that they will be moving you..but they aren't actual movers. First the movers they sent us tried to double the cost of the quote that Empire gave us stating that Empire underestimated the square footage of our house therefore, they have to double the price (and by double I mean add an additional $10K to the already $13K we were paying). They told us this after they had already packed up our stuff and had the truck locked and headed out. They said we could not get our stuff unless we paid them the additional money in cash.

After researching Pack Rite Movers we discovered they have an "F" rating with the BBB. Empire said we would get our stuff in 8-10 days. We got our stuff almost 3 weeks later. They gave us 5 dates of delivery and didn't show up to any of them. My husband took time off work each time in anticipation of them arriving and they failed to show up to 5 different delivery dates that they gave us. Empire will say that delivery is not guaranteed. I get that, but 5 times we were told they would show up and didn't. Finally they showed up. Upon unpacking we discovered that almost every piece of furniture was damaged. They literally threw stuff in boxes without wrapping anything. They threw my fine china (wedding present) into a box with my coffee maker and most of my china was broken. Things that were very sentimental to us (wedding gifts, gifts from my grandmother) were all destroyed. They charged us for "packing material" yet barely used packing material. They took our towels and sheets and used them as "packing material" so I'm not really sure what we paid $1400 for packing material for.

We have moved 7 times and I have never had so many things destroyed or dealt with such unprofessionalism in all these moves. I was literally in tears because I lost so many valuable and precious things to me in this move. Empire response was that it was out of their hands, even though they sent this company to us. If we were given the opportunity to research who they were sending (if Empire was upfront with us about it and actually informed us that they were brokers and not actual movers), we would not have allowed Pack Rite to touch our stuff based on the reviews and their "F" rating with the BBB. I would not recommend Empire and definitely not Pack Rite Movers..It was one of the worst experience I have ever had with a company. Even though they weren't present for anything and did not have first hand knowledge of anything, they said we added stuff to the move , therefore justifying the increase in price. This was a lie, as we actually had less stuff after selling 2 dressers and throwing away a bunch of stuff that we decided not to take with us. Empire blamed us at every turn and wouldn't accept responsibility for anything that went wrong. We lost $10K worth of stuff that was broken/damaged/stolen.
Empire offered us a "discount" of $1900..but that was to be taken off the additional $10k that Pack Rite was extorting from us.. So we were told the move would be around $13k in the beginning ( so that we would sign the contract),then were told it was $23K (after our stuff was packed and locked on the truck). Then Empire offered us $1900 off the "new" price of $23K..so now we are stuck with a $21K bill when we were quoted $13K. I understand its a quote..but they jacked up the price by $10K, then lied and said we added to the move. We feel so taken advantage of and heartbroken over the loss/theft of so much of our stuff. The entire process was a nightmare.

Long-distance move from California to New York

Bait And Switch Tactics. Unprofessional, Deceitful.

Empire Moving Grp subcontracted mover comp. which was illegally forcing me to sign illegitimate doc & not provided service as Binding Quote indicated

I signed moving contract with Empire Moving Group to have my stuffs move out on 03/06/2020. On that day, to my surprise the mover was from a subcontracted of Empire Moving Group came and demanded more monies for not able to park his truck in the loading dock of the building where my apartment was, Neither Empire Moving nor its subcontracted Mover have never contacted my building Management Office for their moving trucks requirements as I have indicated to Empire M. G they must make sure to clear with the truck size requirement for loading dock.

The driver/mover was unable to park his moving truck to the building loading dock for its extended height. He was so furious and unprofessional, cursing me out for their unprepared procedures. He demanded that I must pay $400 for him to park on the street curb and moving the stuffs from elevator to his moving truck. He asked me to sign the pick up documents, however, when I reviewed the documents provided. There were all Blank, there's No Binding Quote figure, No deposit amount of $1,090 which I paid thru my Citibank and No remaining balance when drop off. I asked him to have all clearly written down for me so I can sign those documents. He called the Empire Moving Group and turned around told me that he won't have anything written down and if I don't sign them then he will not do my movings!! He cursed me in between conversations. Meanwhile, I called Empire Moving Group and NO ONE would speak with me to help me with the problems that I was having with this unprofessional driver who Empire Moving Group has sent to me. I left numerous messages to the owner I believe Mr. Jeff Rice and Craig whom I have contacted with prior to all this Surprise problems happened.

The drive after almost 3 and half hours pressured and cursed me in and out left my apartment without doing the moving for the reason that I was not signing the Blank documents that he pressured me to sign. He said if I don't sign then he won't move the stuffs and will loss my deposit and it's my loss so better sign them!!

I firmly told him that I will not sign any documents which are not clearly indicated what I owe as remaining balance because I do not want my stuffs be hold Hostage when time come for drop off my moving stuffs in New York since many victims were falling into that scrams. I left without doing any moving!!

I wanted Empire Moving Group refund my deposit in the amount of $1.090 immediately for its reckless of subcontracted unprofessionals and deficient subcontracting movers in the moving business which caused me of loss time and created tremendous stress to me with my moving matter.

After more than 2 weeks from 03/06/2020. Empire Moving Group had not have the courtesy to contact me to address its problems and refund my deposit.

I am asking BBB to assist me to have Empire Moving Group refund my deposit immediately for the reason that its mover tried to scam me and not provided the service as the Binding Contract I signed with it.

RUN RUN RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

DON'T BE A VICTIM OF SCAMER !!

Local move within New Jersey

Overcharged me by 1,000 dollars.

Alex gave me a cost estimate of $2,000 to move my studio apartment from NJ to FL in March. However when the mover showed up my apartment he charged me $1,000 extra and did not even take all my stuff, (which was detailed in my estimate). They are not honest with their estimate prices. I was charged $3,000 dollars in the end. I don't fault the hispanic men who wrapped/carried my items, they did a good job, but I do fault the guy in charge of picking up my order in NJ and the salesman who quoted me an incorrect lower price in the first place. Let the buyer beware.I would not use them again.

Long-distance move from Morristown, NJ to Jupiter, FL

Excellent Experience Overall.

I worked with Empire Moving Company on a long-distance move from Northern New Jersey to Palm Beach County and was very impressed with their level of professionalism and efficiency. I had a 5 bedroom house, with quite a few larger pieces of furniture that I was concerned would cost a fortune to move and could potentially be damaged in the process - however that was not the case. I used their full line of services to have the entire house packed, loaded onto the truck and shipped. Not only did everything arrive in tact, it was within the price point I was initially quoted. I would absolutely rely on their services again, and would happily recommend them to a friend.

Great all around.

This company is amazing! After being canceled from another moving company the day before we were supposed to move we called Empire moving group to help us with a days notice. You were in expecting to have a lot of luck finding somebody to come the next day but Billy got us moving and booked us for literally the next morning! They came with a very knowledgeable and efficient team that went straight to work and helped us in every way possible. We went from a moving nightmare to the perfect moving dream! Billy was great in getting us the truck with the appropriate pricing and Cesar our mover was great with his team having all hands on deck taking boxes out from nearly as soon as he stepped into our house. Would definitely recommend 10 out of 10.

Lies.

Everything that they said to sell the job was a lie. When we caught it, they said it’s too late to get our deposit back. Customer service is below a joke and do not call back. I have been promised a call back for 2 days. Do not use this company. Run away. Run far away. Looking into taking this to court. Danielle the “manager” has failed to call me back multiple days in a row now.
